Edmund Optics offers a variety of focusing mirrors with spherical or parabolic surface shapes, available with a series of metal film mirror coatings. For metal film mirror coatings, you can choose between aluminum or gold. Aluminum metal film coatings are suitable for enhancing the reflectivity in the ultraviolet (UV) or visible wavelength ranges. In contrast, gold metal film coatings are used for applications that require high reflectivity in the near-infrared (NIR) or infrared (IR) ranges. Mirrors with protective coatings improve the durability of the coatings. Parabolic focusing mirrors do not introduce spherical aberration into the system. Non-axis parabolic focusing mirrors change the direction of reflected light, so the reflected light does not converge towards the light source.
